Here we list dates, location and contact persons for invitational

Recurring Mariner Fleet Open Regatta schedule
The following is a list of annual regattas that are held on the same weekend each
year. In order to avoid conflicts clubs are asked to try to avoid these dates
when scheduling club events.
Actual Dates For 2008
May
- Merrimac Memorial Regatta - Saturday May 24th (Memorial Day Weekend) - Hosted by the Portsmouth Boat Club
The annual Merrimac Memorial Regatta will again be held in the waters of the Elizabeth River off of Portsmouth City Park in Portsmouth, VA. The regatta is open to all sailboats 22'and under. Any 4 boats of the same class will receive their own start. The open fleet will be
scored under the Portsmouth Handicap system. Trophies will be awarded to the top 3 finishers in all fleets. The skipper's meeting is at 09:00. The first gun is at 10:00. A Memorial Day cookout will be held at lunch. Racing will resume after lunch. Awards will be given out later in the afternoon.
WE ARE ASKING EVERYONE TO PRE REGISTER THIS YEAR!!!
Online registration is available at www.merrimacregatta.org You may pay the fee on the day of the regatta, but having our competitors register ahead of time will really help our Race Committee get organized ahead of time. It will also help sailors who do not know their Handicap find out ahead of time. Additionally, pre-registration will help us know how many one design classes there will be; this way we can get the correct number of trophies. Camping and/or boat storage is available to out of town competitors at

- The Webster Sailing Association in Webster, MA will be hosting a
Mariner Day during 2008, date to be announced. This will be a gathering of
Mariner sailers from the area to exchange ideas, race and socialize.
We have been invited to join the club race Sunday afternoon with our
own start. It is only two races and will give those who have never
raced to try it out in a relaxed atmosphere. There will also be a
clinic in the morning on setting up a Mariner for cruising and racing.
The club will be open for those wishing to come for
the weekend. I will have more details as we get closer to the event

There are plans to have a Mariner Gathering in Wellfleet, MA on picturesque Cape Cod Bay. The Gathering may include some around the buoys racing from about 11-1 PM Saturday conducted by The Chequesset Yacht and
Country Club (Club website is http://www.cycc.net/SAILING.HTM).
After racing we can all sail out to Billingsgate Island, Jeremy Point, and the end of Great Island for the day and stay over.
Plans will be finalized in mid June and hope to see many Mariner Sailors attend. Gary Flomenhoft is organizing the
